A physician who delivers babies in addition to treating diseases of the female reproductive organs. OB/GYN is a commonly used abbreviation for these specialists; OB is short for Obstetrician, a physician who delivers babies, and GYN is short for Gynecologist, a physician who specializes in treating diseases of the female reproductive organs.
